Instructor Certification Course
An immersive week long course designed to teach DT officers the necessary tactical knowledge and skills to control and arrest a non-compliant subject across five distinct phases of a combative altercation, as well as how to teach these skills to their own law enforcement students safely and effectively.
Participant Level Phase One Course: Standing
This course focuses on body positioning, distance management, clinch control, takedown prevention, escort and cuffing procedures, weapon retention considerations, and effective responses to common assaultive behaviors encountered in the field.






Participant Level Phase Two Course: The Mount
This course provides law enforcement officers with the essential skills needed to effectively operate from both the top and bottom of the mount position during a physical confrontation. Training emphasizes positional awareness, leverage, defensive tactics, weapon protection, and practical responses to real-world scenarios
Participant Level Phase Three Course: The Guard
This course teaches law enforcement officers how to effectively manage encounters from both the top and bottom of the guard position. Officers learn how to maintain control and neutralize threats. Training focuses on practical application, officer safety, weapon retention, and decision-making under pressure.
Participant Level Phase Four Course: Cross Side
This course provides law enforcement officers with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively operate from both the top and bottom of the cross side (side control) position during a ground encounter. Training emphasizes leverage, pressure, positional awareness, weapon retention, and practical application in real-world law enforcement scenarios.






Participant Level Phase Five Course: Situational Defenses
This course prepares law enforcement officers to effectively respond to some of the most common and dangerous assaults encountered in the field, including headlocks, bear hugs, chokes, strangles, grabs, and other close-quarters attacks. . Through realistic, scenario-based instruction, officers develop the skills and confidence necessary to defend themselves, maintain control of a combative subject, and safely resolve physical confrontations while applying reasonable and defensible force options.
Participant Level Expanded
20 Hour Course
This 20-hour immersive course equips law enforcement officers with practical, proven skills to control resistant subjects, escape dangerous positions, defend against common assaults, and enhance officer safety. Covering Standing Control, Mount, Guard, Cross Side, and Situational Defense, the program uses Gracie Jiu-Jitsu principles and realistic scenario-based training to improve confidence, control, and decision-making during real-world encounters.
Participant Level Firearm Retention
This course teaches law enforcement officers practical, proven techniques to protect and retain both duty pistols and long guns during close-quarters confrontations. Using Gracie Jiu-Jitsu principles, officers learn to defeat common disarm attempts, maintain weapon control from standing and ground positions, and quickly regain tactical advantage in high-risk encounters. Through hands-on, scenario-based training, participants develop the skills and confidence necessary to enhance officer safety and weapon security under pressure.
